Picked up a new book today titled Battles of the Medieval world 1000-1500( sweet!) I'm sure all you fellow history dorks....I mean buffs will share in my joy.
William the Conqueror was originally named William the Bastard.
Look at the lengths he went to change his name. If that's not a motivator I don't know what is. Sort of like Johnny Cash's "boy named sue".

sounds like a pretty cool book. Wish I had time to read something like that...or just a book.

The book is actually a colaboration by sevral professors and writers. It's published by none other than Barnes and Noble. Liz: Although I freely pass this knoledge onto you, I must say that even though you present yourself with all the fervor of a fellow history buff, I can't help but mention the hint of sarcasm or even a slight notion of bitter jealosy that lies behind your words.
